COVID-19 virus confirmed to have reached Malawi on 2 April 2020.
The COVID-19 pandemic posed unprecedented challenges for schools worldwide, and BMIS was no exception. When the virus was confirmed in Malawi in April 2020, the school transitioned to remote learning, ensuring that education continued despite the circumstances. By the start of the 2021 academic year, BMIS had returned to on-site learning, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in the face of adversity.
2020 - 2021 BMIS goes remote
When the virus was confirmed in Malawi in April 2020, the school transitioned to remote learning, ensuring that education continued despite the circumstances. By the start of the 2021 academic year, BMIS had returned to on-site learning. When the school returned to on-site learning in 2021, a number of COVID-19 prevention measures were put in place: students and staff would wear masks, classes had designated areas on campus and would take different paths to classes to increase social distancing, handwashing stations were placed around school, classes were cleaned frequently and screens were placed on desks to create an extra protection barrier.
